From time to time, we may ask you to complete surveys for research purposes, which we will use, for example, to improve our products and services and develop new ones. We will collect the information you provide if you respond; however, you are under no obligation to respond.

User Generated Content
If you post content (including, without limitation, text, pictures, audio, videos, testimonials, tweets, blog posts or reviews) to online platforms, such as social media, or to any publicly available blogs or other publicly available features of our Website, they may be viewed by other users of social media or our Website. By making personal information publicly available on our social media sites or on our Website, you consent to publication by Athletic Roots Training or our service providers and agents.

Telecommunications
Athletic Roots Training may ask you for contact information such as your telephone, mobile or fax number or e-mail address, and keep and use this information as well as disclose it to other trusted third parties so that we or any of these third parties may contact you directly through these channels for the purpose of emergency contact, of goods, services and special offers that may be of interest to you. Your consent to this is not a condition of your membership.

Athletic Roots Training Website
When you visit our Website at www.athleticrootstraining.com, our server logs automatically record statistical information, such as your IP addresses, type of operating system, device type, browser use, time and duration of visit, webpages requested, approximate geographical location (country, province, city), your page views, the time you spent on the Website and your clicks and interactions. We also identify visitor categories for the Website based on factors such as domains and browser types.

Digital Markers (including cookies)
A digital marker is a resource created by the visitor's browser to store certain information for the web server to reference during the same or subsequent visits to the Website. Examples of digital markers are “cookies” or HTML5 web storage. Some examples of what digital markers do are as follows:

  • they allow a website to recognize a previous visit each time the visitor accesses the site;

  • they track which information is viewed on a website, helping website administrators ensure visitors find what they are looking for.

Athletic Roots uses session and persistent digital markers/cookies on some portions of our Website. We use these cookies or similar technologies to store your preferences, record session information such as information on what pages you access or visit, develop information about your preferences and interests, alert you to areas that we think might be of interest to you when you return to our Website, record past activity in order to provide better service when you return to our Website, help rotate banner advertising so as to ensure that visitors are not repeatedly sent the same banner ads, and customize content based on your browser type or other information you provide. We may also combine such information with other information we have collected from you across various sources in our consumer database. This allows us to improve the quality of our service, including by storing user preferences, tracking user trends and providing relevant advertising to you based on your activities.

We also use digital markers/cookies and similar tools placed by our advertising partners for tailored interest-based advertising purposes.
Athletic Roots also uses digital markers/cookies to collect data related to your browsing activity or your device. For example, we collect data related to your IP address, your browsing history, the content of the pages you visited, the number of clicks you make, your type of device, the site you came from and the site you’re going to when you leave ours, your approximate geographical location, your email, as well as the ads and videos that you viewed on each site. We can also track which of our ads you interact with on third-party websites. We use such data to provide you with ads that are more relevant to your interests, such as ads related to the sites and content you viewed, and to identify other people with similar interests. If you click on one of our ads online, including to contact us by phone, your mobile phone number and cookie-related data may be shared with our digital partners and used to track the effectiveness of our advertising and for the purposes of delivering ads that may be relevant to you in the future.
You may adjust your browser settings to reject digital markers, including cookies, if you choose. You can also delete the cookies on your computer in your browser, or completely disable the feature that stores cookies on Athletic Roots’ Website. Certain features also allow you to deactivate some cookies and to keep only those you want. If this interests you, review your browser settings. Note, however, it may affect your ability to interact with our Website.

Athletic Roots also uses third-party remarketing services, such as Meta and DoubleClick by Google, to advertise on third-party websites (including Google) or social media sites to previous visitors to our Website and to other visitors who may have similar preferences. This could be in the form of an advertisement on the Google search results page, Facebook or Instagram, or on sites across the internet.

You may opt out of Google Analytics and other digital media platforms by using the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada’s ad choices tool:
https://youradchoices.ca/en/tools
Visitors may also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page:
http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp
Interest-based advertising opt-outs work by saving cookies in your browser that tell the various ad partners that you have opted out. Because cookies are generally browser-specific, your choice will only apply to the web browser from which you opt out. You must opt out from each web browser from which you do not want interest-based advertising (and this may involve different devices, if you use more than one).
If you opt out of interest-based advertising by a third party, these technologies may still collect data for other purposes, including analytics, and you may still see ads across the Internet, but the ads will not be targeted based on information about you, and may therefore be less relevant to you and your interests.

Social Media
If you engage with us on social media, we will collect information you have added to your registration profile from those accounts, and that is made available to us by default by the relevant Social Media Platform.
We also place various social media buttons on our Website as links, including (but not limited to) Meta (Facebook and Instagram), X (formerly Twitter), and Pinterest. When you visit a website that integrates social media plugins, certain data (your current IP address, visited sites, the date and time the website was visited, etc.) is forwarded to these social media services, even if you are not registered with these services.
If you are already logged into the social media service when you click on the social media button, the social media service may also use this data to identify your username and possibly even your real name. We have no control over the extent, nature and purpose of such data processing by the social media service.
You can find further information about data protection regarding FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

Web Analytics
Web analytics is the collection, analysis, measurement, and reporting of data about web traffic and visits for purposes of understanding and optimizing web usage. Information in digital markers may be used for web analytics to track your online interactions with Athletic Roots’ Website.
Google/Adobe Analytics: Athletic Roots may use third-party web analytics services on our websites, such as Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics. These service providers help us analyze how users use our websites. To learn more about Adobe Analytics and how to opt out, click here. To learn more about Google Analytics and how to opt out, click here.
HotJar: Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.), and this enables us to build and maintain our Website and the services available on our Website, with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behaviour and their devices (in particular, the device's IP address (captured and stored only in anonymized form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information and geographic location (country only). Hotjar stores this information in a pseudonymized user profile. Neither Hotjar nor we will ever use this information to identify individual users or to match it with further data on an individual user. You can opt out of the creation of a user profile, Hotjar’s storing of data about your usage of our site and Hotjar’s use of tracking cookies on other websites by following this opt-out link.
